About me

Suzie Curran

Suzie Curran

I’m a freelance events specialist and founder of Against the Current, working with organisations and agencies to design and deliver conferences, stakeholder events and large-scale productions.

My work spans the full event lifecycle; from programme development and content curation through to production, logistics and delivery. I’m particularly experienced in managing complex events with multiple stakeholders, speakers and sessions, ensuring that both the content and the operational delivery come together seamlessly.

I’ve worked across the corporate, policy and charity sectors, delivering conferences, festivals, launches, exhibitions and hybrid or digital events. Much of my work involves collaborating with senior stakeholders including policymakers, academics, industry leaders and partners to create events that are engaging, well run and aligned with wider organisational goals.

Recent projects include supporting the delivery of major international conferences such as Cisco Live EMEA and Envestnet Elevate in the United States, alongside work with organisations including George P. Johnson, the Behavioural Insights Team, Internet Matters, the Childhood Trust and Youth Futures Foundation.

Before establishing my freelance practice, I held senior events and communications roles across the think tank and charity sectors, including Head of Events at the Behavioural Insights Team and Head of External Affairs and Events at Demos.

Today I work both independently and as part of agency teams, supporting the delivery of complex conferences and large-scale events.
